All of the 4th graders researched a famous Texan. They were able to dress up as the character and share their life story. They had a little button to push and then they started sharing their information. Kayla did such a great job. She chose Cynthia Ann Parker. She worked hard making a beaded necklace and something for her hair.

A Smokin' Mother's Day 2010
Ahh, the day I have been waiting for. Succulent BBQ, and all the southern fancy fixins to go along with it and of course, family. On this day we celebrated all the wonderful women in our life. The royal guest list was Grandma Ruth Bellflower, Aunt Debbie Crews, Grammie Pat, Momma Liz, Aunts Kelly, Kim and Melissa...and of course Seth and I, by the way we so threw the gauntlet down on the meal.
On the menu was some saucy baby back ribs(3 racks), a dozen grilled corn on the cob, Bush's Grillin' Beans, my first home made potato salad(which I hear was a hit) and some buttery and garlicky goodness known as Texas Toast....with choice of sodas, of course! Ah, yes! A feast fit for a king! In this case, fit for a queen. To finish it all off we had ice cream pies, frozen chocolate eclairs and big ole ice cream sandwiches. MMMMMM, boy! Make you slap your momma so fast! Good thing three generations were present so we could slap all the women up and down the whole family tree! (Just kidding here, we don't believe in nor condone any form of domestic violence).
Take a look at the pics....and if you get hungry I can't blame you dawg! A shout out goes to my Pops, Larry Brock for passing his grill and smoker down to me....Dad I have made you proud! I overheard Kelly say that the ribs were as good as if she got them from Famous Dave's BBQ!!!! Wow, what a compliment.
You know Seth and I labored in the kitchen and on the grill but it was ll worth it. We had them women served their food, eating to the desert and had the kitchen cleaned up in just over an hours time. Now that's some real service! Way to go Sether!

Jaxon's Ensemble Performance
Jaxon just participated in a solo and ensemble at school last week. He earned a 1 at both performances. The kids performed by themselves in a room with the judge. I was excited that Jaxon's band director offered to let me and another parent sit in the back and listen in. We're proud of all his work!
